Crunch 2025: Franco-British Duel

Every two years, the French and British meet for a friendly sporting competition. This year, the competition took place at the club in Bordeaux. In 2025, the tradition once again lived up to its promise.

A salty launch in Andernos

The 2025 edition of the Crunch was launched on Thursday evening in Andernos-les-Bains, on the Arcachon basin. In the warm atmosphere of “La Cahute,” French and British participants gathered around a feast of seafood: oysters, shrimp, whelks... The perfect opportunity to make initial connections before the sporting rivalry resumes on the court.

The English in top form from the start

On Friday at noon, the Crunch officially kicked off. From the very first exchanges, the tone was set: the British came ready to fight. Their sharp and effective play allowed them to take a serious lead. In the evening, everyone gathered around a food truck to share a simple and friendly moment after the effort. At the end of the first day, the visitors were leading 5–0, but the French team had not yet had their final say...

Saturday, the French 'revolt'

On Saturday, the French team responded with panache, winning four impressive victories that reignited the suspense. Meanwhile, exchanges continued... on other courts: the padel tournament, launched for the occasion, added an extra touch. In the evening, everyone gathered at the Automobile Club du Sud-Ouest in Bordeaux for a memorable dinner. A refined setting, delicious cuisine, and a relaxed atmosphere: a truly enjoyable moment of sharing appreciated by all.

An amical ending

On Sunday, the final matches were played before players, fans, and organizers gathered for lunch: roast chicken, potatoes, and green beans were on the menu, in keeping with tradition. The awards ceremony then brought the 2025 edition of the Crunch to a close in a cheerful atmosphere.

France wins with panache in the over-50s category

France finishes the competition with its head held high, having secured a fine victory in the category. 50+, won by a thread 3-2.

Great Britain, which performed strongly throughout the weekend, won the other three age categories.

Final score: 11–5 in favor of the British

Congratulations to all the players for their commitment, their level of play, and the exemplary spirit they displayed throughout the event!

As a finishing touch, a magnificent cake, specially designed for the Crunch, was shared among everyone—a treat as beautiful as it was delicious.

A huge thank you to all participants, players, volunteers, and spectators for their energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. We can't wait for the next edition!
