A Golden Final in a Silver Case

The Bordeaux Jeu de Paume club was once again the center of attention and play this weekend at the Silver Racket 2024,attracting top players from Paris and Bordeaux for the Second series Championship.Beyond the purely athletic dimension, the conviviality and enthusiasm of the fans shaped this event. Here's a look back at the key moments.


A weekend of sporting excellence

From the very first day, the tone was set with some hotly contested matches and fine performances. The main draw saw top seeds and outsiders battle it out in thrilling matches, while the main draw offered an opportunity for all players to continue to shine.

In the singles, Nicolas Ovial,fresh from his French Doubles Championship title, literally flew through the tournament, concluding with a stunning victory over Clément Depreeuw in the final (6/3 6/1). Nicolas imposed an incredible intensity of play, leaving his opponent with limited solutions. The title of ' Champion de France 2e Série , demonstrated an exceptional start to the season for the Bordeaux native, who is now dreaming of battling for the Gold.

In the doubles, the pair Clément Depreeuw & Vincent Letonturier won a three-set match against Bordeaux's Nicolas Ovial & Nicolas PlantyAfter a hard-fought battle, they pulled out all the stops to take the title, confirming their complementarity on the court.

A special mention must also go to Elliott Watkinsa young up-and-comer from Bordeaux, who confirmed his rise to prominence by winning the event. After winning the Raquette de Bronze a few weeks ago, Elliott is continuing his promising career, showing great progress and determination on the court.


Sharing moments that make all the difference

This year’s tournament was also distinguished by what happened off the courts. The tournament was marked by moments of conviviality that brought together players, members and spectators in a warm atmosphere.

  • Friday eve, after an emotional first day, a raclette brought together no fewer than 25 people.   • Saturday evening, around twenty participants gathered for dinner in the heart of Bordeaux. With lively discussions and tastings of local dishes, it was the perfect opportunity to relax after an intense, emotionally-charged day.
  • Sunday mid day,the tradition of roast chicken brought together some thirty people for a warm family lunch. Laughter, encouragement and good food were on the menu, closing the weekend on a perfect note.

These shared moments are the very essence of this club, and what made this 2024 edition so special. More than just a competition, it was a true celebration of Court tennis and friendship!


Volunteers at the heart of success

A huge merci to the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event a success. Whether it was organizing the event, preparing meals or welcoming players and spectators, their energy and dedication were the key to its success. Their work, often behind the scenes, deserves all our gratitude.

The enthusiasm of participants and supporters was palpable throughout the weekend, creating a unique atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again.

Beyond the organization and logistics, none of this would have been possible without you, the players and spectators. You were at the heart of the weekend, contributing your energy, your encouragement and your smiles. The players put on a show of the highest quality, and it's thanks to an assiduous, warm and passionate public that this competition took on an even more beautiful dimension.
